How it Works
FIRSTCALL MEDICAL ALARMS
FirstCall is a Medical Alarm which can summon help in an emergency by sending calls either to family and friends or a 24/7 monitoring service.
The FirstCall system consists of a lightweight waterproof pendant or watch which you carry with you or wear at home, and an alarm unit which is plugged into your telephone line and into a power point.
The pendant or watch can be worn in the bath or shower and will normally work around the average sized home and garden.
When you press the FirstCall pendant or watch, the alarm unit will sound an alarm and will then automatically call up to five pre-programmed phone numbers to request urgent assistance.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS OPTION
FirstCall can directly call family members and friends. When family and friends take all the calls there are no ongoing monthly monitoring fees – all you pay is the one-off purchase price and a small delivery fee, and there are no contracts to sign.
When your family or friends answer the call they will hear the voice message and will immediately know that you need assistance.
Additionally, they may then be able to speak to you over the sensitive FirstCall loudspeaker which is in the alarm unite (though this is not necessary for them to know that you need help).
Your family and friends will be able to receive your calls for assistance anywhere they have a fixed or mobile phone service, even if they are out playing golf or shopping etc.
FirstCall can be programmed to require either one or two people to receive a call for assistance. Calls to answering machines and voice mailboxes will not be counted as a successful call, although the personal voice message will be left.
The FirstCall alarm will also call family and friends if the mains-power has been disconnected for more than a few hours, however, to avoid inconveniencing people, those calls will not be made late at night.
24/7 MONITORING SERVICE OPTION
FirstCall can also be supplied to call a 24-hour monitoring service. Although 24-hour monitoring incurs a small ongoing monthly fee, it does provide a greater level of security and lessens the anxiety you may feel about inconveniencing others.
If you choose this option, FirstCall will call the Monitoring Service where a trained Operator will receive your call. The Operator will automatically know who you are and that you need assistance, and will then attempt to speak with you over FirstCall’s sensitive loudspeaker.
If the Operator cannot speak with you, or depending on the circumstances and your pre-completed instructions, the Operator may call your family and friends or even call an ambulance or other emergency services.
Aditionally, the Monitoring Service will automatically and silently check the operation of your alarm unit each week, and will also receive all mains-power fail calls.
SWITCHING MONITORING OPTIONS
We all know that things change, and one of the great advantages of FirstCall is that it can change as your needs change.
FirstCall can easily be switched over to call a 24-hour monitoring service instead of your family and friends.

Easy to INSTALL AND SIMPLE TO use
Installation is very easy. FirstCall comes fully programmed with your personal voice message and all the phone numbers. When you receive your FirstCall, just plug it into a power point and the phone socket and follow the simple step-by-step instructions.
Our help-line is also there to assist you, and we can arrange installation in most areas for an additional fee.
Although powerful on the inside, the FirstCall Medical Alarm has been designed to be unobtrusive and very simple to use. The user manual is clear and easy to follow.
NO BATTERIES NEED REPLACING
The FirstCall pendant uses a lithium battery and should last for many years.
